Published in Pensacola, Florida, by Matthew M. Lewey, the Florida Sentinel was a magazine for the African American community. This issue, which describes Dr. Booker T. Washington’s 1912 tour of North Florida, is the only original Florida Sentinel in our archives. It is one of the few original issues of the magazine known to exist.
