2017 Call for SFA Committees

We still have a few openings on our 2017 committees: Audit, Awards, and Nominating. If you are interested in becoming more involved with SFA or gaining leadership experience, please consider volunteering for a committee or position. Our Newsletter Editor position is also open (see call below).

The Society of Florida Archivists seeks an enthusiastic and energetic Newsletter Editor to assume production of The Florida Archivist beginning with the Winter 2017 issue, in conjunction with outgoing Newsletter Editor Marissa Kings.

About the role:

The Newsletter Editor is responsible for soliciting, editing, and publishing content; distributing electronic and paper copies of the newsletter; and working with the Web Communications Team to implement new and improved options for online access to content, including contributing to SFA’s Twitter account. The Newsletter Editor is an ex-officio, non-voting member of the SFA Executive Board and usually serves 1-3 years in this capacity. Although the position does not require prior experience, applicants are encouraged to demonstrate their success in related areas. Familiarity with or use of software to create newsletters (e.g., MS Publisher, Print Shop, Apple iWork) and social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook is preferred. If you have served as the manager of website, a regular contributor to a blog, or as the editor of a professional publication, let us know! Regardless of expertise, the Board will consider all who express interest in serving as Newsletter Editor.

To be considered, please submit samples of your work via email to societyofflarchivists@gmail.com with the subject "Newsletter Editor Submissions" by January 30, 2017. This could include:

· Brief writing or editing sample (1 page or less)

· Sample (1-2 page) newsletter - feel free to use content from recent SFA newsletters or from the weekly news posts on our website.
