The Distinguished Service Award Subcommittee of the Society of American Archivists seeks nominations for the 2016 award. We are sending this message out to the general SAA audience, but in order to secure a higher number of nominations for this award, our subcommittee decided to also make contact with regional archival organizations, such as the Society of Florida Archivists, because you may be aware of programs or institutions in your area that are very deserving of this award and can encourage nominations from your members.

Nominees should be an archival institution that has “provided outstanding service to its public and has made an exemplary contribution to the archives profession.” Archival institutions, education programs, nonprofit organizations, and government organizations providing service or support to the archives community in North America are eligible.

If you know of any archival institutions deserving of this recognition, please consider submitting a nomination. The deadline is February 28. A description of the award and nomination form is located here: http://www2.archivists.org/governance/handbook/section12-service . Three letters of support are also required for the nomination.

Please note that self-nominations can be accepted and are encouraged! If you would like your organization or institution recognized for contributions to our professions, please consider submitting a nomination.
