SFA Celebrates October as Archives Month

01 Oct 2014 3:46 PM | Krystal Thomas (Administrator)

The Society of Florida Archivists, in conjunction with the Society of American Archivists, celebrates October as American Archives Month, which is a collaborative effort by professional organizations and repositories around the nation to highlight the importance of records of enduring value.

For Florida Archives Month 2014, SFA will be sponsoring an online exhibit that will be accessible via the SFA Archives Month web page, and will be made up of digitized materials from the rich archival collections around our state. This year’s theme will celebrate what is weird and wonderful about our state. Detailed instructions are available on the site http://www.florida-archivists.org/2014-Florida-Archives-Month

A calendar will be maintained to promote events during the month and we encourage everyone to share what’s going on in their archive or institution.

In addition, we will be spearheading an effort to connect archivists across Florida by supporting you all in your own communities to “meetup” with your colleagues.

We will be posting more information here on the listserv, twitter, and Facebook as the month progresses.

Please send questions and announcements to ArchivesMonthSFA@gmail.com

Happy Archives Month!

Sincerely,

Sandra Varry

Society of Florida Archivists President
